Argumentum ad Verecundiam
Who uses foreign terms to make articles look cool? Me! Me!
This morning, I was listening to a khutbah on the radio. Typical of my parents’ house in Malang: every morning, turn on the radio. About Uwais Al Qarni, he is very famous. I have often heard his story — a child who is very devoted to his mother.
Apart from that, be reminded again that:
We’re not better than anyone.
This is what makes me want to write about Argumentum ad verecundiam. This term is a logical fallacy. I had attended a course in philosophy when I was in college. All I remember is this, despite the many other fallacies.
Let me quote this term from Wikipedia:
Argumentum ad verecundiam is a form of argument in which the opinion of an authority on a topic is used as evidence to support an argument. Some consider that it is used in a cogent form if all sides of a discussion agree on the reliability of the authority in the given context, and others consider it to always be a fallacy to cite an authority on the discussed topic as the primary means of supporting an argument.
In short, it’s about the fallacy of thinking that you feel the right way. Almost everyone has experienced it. Unconscious. And while sane, it helps us realize that we have felt that way.
Why Aren’t We Allowed To Feel Right Than Others?
Because in the Quran it is written like this:
Besides, we are really nothing. We are human beings. What we think is true is not necessarily true, according to others. We may have our own idealism, but we cannot make it a universal standard.
Talking about this, it reminds me of the words of (alm.) Sheikh Ali Jaber is about Muslim women who are not yet veiled. I don’t want to quote directly, so I’ll just use my words.
Never judge someone. We don’t know. We don’t understand. Perhaps a woman who is not yet veiled has prayers in a third of the night and has a secret with Allah so that her sins are forgiven.
All of us are judged in the end, in the process we never know what our destiny is. The point is, don’t judge people.
Better Doesn’t Mean Truer.
We can only be better than ourselves. That is why we can accept the prayer “wish you be a better person.”
Yup, we must improve our version from the old us. Maybe we need journaling to be able to review how we were in the past and how we are today.
We can also do better from a bad story and not worthy of emulation. That’s why we are assigned to learn lessons from all journeys.
Relation to Digital Marketing Strategy.
OOT: When I write on Medium, I actually only want to talk about Digital Marketing.
Maybe also productivity. Hmm, whatever is useful, not kind of shitpost. Therefore, I also want to make a little correlation in this post a little with digital marketing. I hope you’re okay with that 😜
In digital marketing terms, there are white-hat and black-hat strategies. Of course, the white hat is better. However, that doesn’t mean the white hat is truer. Because sometimes, people need a black-hat way to get a high rating domain first at the beginning of the struggle.
There are also those who agree to disavow links, some ignore it. Some agree to install ads, some choose organic. Some create text-only content, some beautify it with visual images and videos.
It all depends on needs. Whatever it is, the essential thing is the result.
What about the strategy I did?
Wow, in 2021, there are many new strategies that I want to implement. Wish us luck!
